Where Are You Looking For Hell, It Is Here! Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

Where Are You Looking For Hell, It Is Here!

They say that I am good for hell,
How lovely.
For those who want to sendme there
Do not even know what it is like!
They have never been there themselves.
It is a pity!
I love their pride and their ignorance!

There is something missing in them,
Why did they not choose to send me to heaven instead?
I wonder, maybe I do not deserve it.
What makes them think that hell is the best place for me,
Those confused coils of unproven and unprovable rigmarole?

Oh leave me to the hell I am in!
I am getting used to the daily dose of bombs
And bloodshed, killings and drugs,
The daily counts of explodedand lacerated bodies.
There cannot be better hell than this.

Even nature is getting fiercer and hungrier
And claiming her shares of the dead.
Floods and storms, heat and hurricanes and parched lands,
Cancer, guns and bullets, they areall here.
Add a little sulphur of gunpowder
And it is a perfect picture of hell!

Send me anywhere, friends
I am sure I will save a little space
To grow a bloom of true love!
