When You Give Yourself Up Poem by Esther Hadassah Sendeza

When You Give Yourself Up

You are only losing,
When you give yourself up.
When you think the fight has won,
And you, a carcass left behind.

Be it the murkiest of roads,
Break free,
Be it the baddest of nightmares,
Awaken.
Find another route,
There's always a way out,
East, West, above or even under.

You are indeed losing,
When you throw in the towel,
An injustice to how far you've come.
Giving up on yourself is not an option,
Your light was never meant to be dim.
Your existence, was never meant to be average.
Your power, far greater than what you can imagine

It may not be easy now,
But no valley is permanent.
So, remember, you are only losing,
When you give yourself up.
