When We Were Kids Poem by Conley Murray

When We Were Kids

When we were kids,
the games we would play during the day.

Jump the rope,
until it broke.

Hide and seek,
and the one doing the seek was not allowed to peek.

Run a race.
We would run at a very fast pace,
and do our best to win the race.

Play cowboys of the wild west,
we always tried to be the best.

When the ball games begin,
we did our best to win.

They did not have computers in the schools in our day,
we did reading, writing, and arithmetic the old fashion way.

That's the way it was when we were kids in our day,
and God blessed us in a very mighty way.
