When The parents Err. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

When The parents Err.

Rating: 5.0

A male youth was
given capital punishment
for a despicable evil.
' I want to meet my mother
before being hanged'
was his last will.

His mother was brought near,
he wanted to whisper
something in her ear.
In stead of telling any thing,
he bit her pinna cruelly and
violently,
the bleeding was severe.

The judge questioned him
what prompted you to
do another felony?
Reply came from him
' Hon'ble Judge,
you did not give me my
birth and life, but ordered my hanging,
I am not responsible
for this crime,
there is one irony.'

'As a child I stole many
small small things,
my mother was amused,
neither corrected nor boxed
my ears to prevent me,
as a result,
my habit grew gradually,
now I am a notorious dacoit
whom you are sending
to the gallows.
Had she not failed in
her duty then,
my beheading would not
have followed.'

If the parent's morality
goes down the drain,
belling the cat remains
in vain.

'This happened in China
as per the source of my
secondary information,
The Odiya daily'

Very true, Parents lead by examples. But after a certain age you know what is wrong and what is right, so you can't put all blame on them as well. Good poem

A very heart - rending story that imparts a moral lesson. Parenting entails hardwork, utmost dedication, morality, love and other factors

Child is just a handful of clay and parents have the responsibility to give it forms. Very nicely written. Loved it.
