When The Eavesdropper Arrives Poem by Raj Dronamraju

When The Eavesdropper Arrives

A throwdown at an ill advised party
Free to express alcohol truths then forgotten about the next day
Combatants square off in sectioned off areas of the living room
Entertain the peer group with petty grudges and casually delivered insults
Loosened up tongues fill in colors and shapes

However, at the first sighting of the eavesdropper, it all shuts down
Like a beach house after the labor day weekend
As the eavesdropper enters the room, she's tuned to the frequency of bodies unconsciously showing a range of negative reactions
Of idle information easily rolled into a malicious ball and tossed to a reluctant teammate

An elegant suite played without much precision and pride for busybodies
The eavesdropper has a bionic ear and the mutant ability to pinpoint drama
No one will sacrifice themselves with an introduction
Rather they'll wait to throw each other out as cover

For me, I'd like to dispense with caution and flatter women with double chins
Tell the beautiful busybody "Here's what I know"
Eavesdropper, let's run away together and become journalists
Let's source the room and you can feed off tidbits of gossip
