When The Brook Sings Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

When The Brook Sings

Sparkling under the smiling sun
Shadowless thoughts floating in the open skies
Songs echoing in the thick foliage around
As souls serenade in the green flow below
Like a spell cast by the power of music
That oozes from the churning belly of the brook

Love'n kindness
Trickling downslope like a singing brook
Churning songs of grace eternal
In a runnel of mercy embrace
Annoyed not by the squids therein
Wings of joy flailing in the beauty of the beyond

Freedom reflecting in the sparkling flow
See children crossing home
Brook waters whistling around their swollen ankles
Songs of lyrical eternal beauty
For ours is a call to eternal peace
And our accuser won't be there no more
