I forgot your eyes open in my heart;
Whenever I close mine, you look at me:

Would my heart ever bounce gleefully

A unique love poem! Fascinating poetic expression: When Love was young, jocund and jolly, My sound-elated heart sung melodies of love'. Loved reading it.......................10

I think Daniel has given a complete interpretation to the poem with which I agree entirely, particularly your use of the archaic in the middle of the poem.. It does show the 'past' of love.. On a personal note, I had too seen many a love turn into almost indifference as time goes on.. It is really sad, but maybe a reality.. A wonderful poem Miheala.. Just wonderful.

When love was young - Love ages just as we do? But at a faster rate? Your poem answers both of those questions YES. That adds another layer of loss to the palimpsest of our emotional lives. Many poems nudge me toward a new way of seeing something, this one got inside me and took over for a while. The stanza that moved me was the third which you identified as a NOVEL CADENCE. The rhymes and slightly archaic language pulled into the poem's core of loss, it's a large open space with memories crowded into a corner. It will be cathartic to re-present those memories to the sad but enlightened heart. But a poem like this does not prevaricate or equivocate. It tells the truth, the worst of it is in remembering the sweet things in the first stanza. Remembering in the later stanzas is of a different order, it's almost impersonal, almost restorative. The light is returning!

When the love is young there is an element of magic in it, but when it ages they unlike wine may lose its sheen. In this context, I am reminded of Shakespeare's sonnet No.116 which while providing a contrasting viewpoint goes on to say, ' Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments.' Your poem is thus one half of the story and the Shakespeare's poem is another half of the story. Both the stories are true and they combine to make the life whole. A superb poem.10/10

loved this poem, this line especially haunts, 'Now, a novel cadence echoes lost within'; I also love the sound of a smile in a voice, eyes that sparkle, thus your poem roused memories 10+ :)
