When Love Hastens Backward Poem by Bryan Taplits

When Love Hastens Backward

Repeatedly, I claw for you
Impatiently, I sigh
But unfortunately, dear sodden heart,
You don't know that I'm alive.
I wish my best for you
I hope for your return,
Like ice cream and exotic lands-
I yearn and yearn again.
Yet, one day I know you'll see me-
Inveigled by your starlit lies-
But by then it will be too late, my dear-
For my love for you
-like me-
will declare that you're in arrears.
'Goodbye.'
