" Life was all play and games, in our growing mental frames." Great poem. Brought back many memories of the childhood. Thinking how simple life was and how complicated it turned out to be. Loved reading it. Thanks for sharing,

Nice one about childhood. Everyone wishes to go back to that times when the life was careless and not complicated. Your pen has spilled the times of your childhood very beautifully. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful poem.

a wonderful recapturing of the play-world children create for themselves... I admire the way you muse and wonder at their playfulness that knows no bounds. You cleverly contrast it with the stodgy, literal-minded world view of adults.

A wonderful poem. It resonates with me. How I wish I could turn back the hands of time and be a child once again and escape the complicated life.

Wow! The title says it all. Each one of us has his or her own set of nostalgic images of childhood days. The graphic provides some of them already. The remaining ones are nicely re-discovered in your lovely overview of activities. Thanks for such a nicely crafted poem, Zaynab.

Your delightful poem brought back a few memories and while reading this I became acutely aware of how the complexities of technology such as the ipad have interfered with basic tangible interactions and physical activities of exploring our world. Lovely poem 10+

1 - lil' ol' me would put an apostrophe after " lil" . :) of course, PH may have erased it; PH seems to do some strange things 'these days'! Ah, yes! my mom's hot pink lipstick was my favorite! before playing 'mom & dad', we first had to play 'doctor'. i never did it. i was not familiar with this definition of FRISK: " 2. (of an animal or person) skip or leap playfully; frolic." (cont.)

Hey Zaynab! I like it very much. Nice to take us back. And I think you intend us to compare it with the kids’ games of these days. Definitely, so much has been lost. Remember marbles, and French skipping and hopscotch?

Hey, Laurie! Good to see a message from my favorite African! I remember marbles and hopscotch, but what the heck is French skipping? I have heard of French kissing...

I can so well relate to this poem! There is a child within each one of us and most of us wish to relive those carefree beautiful days of childhood when we were totally free of all pressing responsibilities and nagging problems of life! During those days, we imitated the elders and wished to be a grown up! But now we realize, the earlier stage was far more covetuous than the present times!
