Thanks for taking me along on your trip down memory lane, Charles. I've enjoyed every second of it. Nostalgic, touching write. Warm regards and a score of 10 from Gina.
I had a second hand rose childhood too Charles, but I was the eldest of 6 and the mother figure. I truly wish it had been carefree, but I will make sure my boys childhoods will be and that is what it taught me. I really enjoyed this trip back to the good/bad old days. 10 from smiling Tai
Very touching, A true heart felt write. Childhood memories but you were positive. A strong man indeed. Patricia
A powerful vivid description of ones childhood and the struggles one experiences. In particular I like the point you make that as a child you was oblivious to the hardship and lost yourself in your dreams. Reflective without asking for pity, as you say close the poem with its just my history. good write. best wishes Vincent Turner
Sad and touching, Charlie. We all have our day of reckoning, and sometimes it's difficult to go there. But there are always the good memories to offset the bad ones, so life eventually balances out in the long run. Very introspective and thought-provoking. Linda
