When I Break Down Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

When I Break Down

The ignition stops working
Words are frozen mid-sentence
Emotions flood the system
Choking off the steam
Life becomes a distant dream
Everything breaks down
Into pieces of meaninglessness
There is no taste to the air in the room
My heart punched by the escaping chaos
There is nothing left to hold onto
Except to let go
To not grasp at straws is wisdom
To let the chemical processes cease to exist
And let the open mouth of nothingness embrace my being
Today, I broke down
It was a beautiful picture of sadness
Unconditional Love took over the reigns
And allowed me to grieve
When I break down
I become the heartbeat of consciousness
The logical processes are abruptly terminated
The algorithms dissolved
The robotic arm of my being disengaged
Losing all my physical attributes
The spiritual being illuminated
It is an amazing experience
To be alone in the aloneness
And yet be with all of humanity in the realm of the heart
Totally aware of the meaninglessness of life
And the meaningfulness of life
It is scary, beautiful and beyond the grasp of the logical mind
It is only the Spirit that understands
The bottom end of life
