When Good Stands Still Poem by Ali Farah

When Good Stands Still

There are those who rise through greed,
Sowing conflict with their need.
Trampling souls with cruel disregard,
Leaving scars in every place.

Wars ignite at their command,
Man-made fires scorch the land.
Good men watch with blinded eyes,
Hoping others see through lies.

Indifference paves the way for wrong,
Silence makes the wicked strong.
We must act, without delay,
For evil grows when good gives way.

No need to wait for others' cue,
It starts with one, and spreads anew,
The world will change when we act true.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
There are always those driven by greed, willing to commit evil to advance themselves, often at the expense of those who live by a moral code. Sadly, our world is plagued by wars, violence, and countless man-made disasters, often instigated by such individuals. Yet, their rise is enabled by the inaction of good people who choose to see only the goodness in others. Indifference acts as a green light for evil, just as it signals traffic to move forward. To counter the harm done by such men, we must act collectively, and that begins with each one of us stepping up, without waiting for others to do the same.
