When Emily Talks Poem by Toshie Nohara

When Emily Talks

When Emily talks about
her family

or boasts about
her aunt
Kathy
Who is a
singer

or complains about
Jimmy not taking
her out to
dinner

or accuses
Betty of spoling her
party

I just listen to her
'Cos she is pleased to
know
That I KNOW she
Knows I am her good
friend and
confidant.

Then I tell her to feel more
confident about herself
And not to
lament
or
comment anymore.

My suggestion she
thankfully
follows.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
