What You've Made Me Poem by Skylark Woodrow

What You've Made Me

Rating: 5.0

My past will always be the same for me, no matter how much I'd like to change it.
But I can't, so I'll just have to accept it as it is.
I can't cut the pain and heartache and just paste the things I want into my life.
I can't sever myself, take one part and leave the other;
I am who I am.
No...I'm what you've made me.

You've twisted and turned who I was into what I am,
You've given me all these memories I can't stand,
You haunt my life, turning it into a nightmare, and you always seem to win in the end.
You've turned me into everything I hate.
I feel like I've lost Myself,
I have faded away...to nothing;
Because I am what you've made me.
This thing you have made isn't going to work,
This will only make me die because...I...can't...be.....
THIS.

My past is a part of me; no matter how much I wish it wasn't,
But I can change the future,
I can change NOW.
I will undo the hurt,
I will undo the pain,
I will heal myself...slowly...but I will heal.
I will become Me again.
I'm breaking free,
And you will no longer control me.

You've twisted and turned who I was into what I am, You've given me all these memories I can't stand, You haunt my life, turning it into a nightmare, and you always seem to win in the end. Healing, hurt, past memories, human experiences described so well. tony
