What Would You Think? Poem by RHODVICK LUSENO

What Would You Think?

Rating: 5.0

Would you think I'm weak if I offered my hand?
If I stopped to help, even when I didn't understand?
Would you say I'm wasting my time
Slowing down in a world that only values the climb?

Would you mock me for caring too much,
For giving when I don't expect a crutch?
Would you think I'm lost in a dream too wide
That kindness won't survive the world's rough tide?

Would you tell me I'm foolish to believe in change?
That people are cold, and hearts are strange?
Would you ask me to build a thicker skin
To protect my peace, and never let them in?

But how could I stand by and ignore the pain,
When I see hungry hands in the rain?
How can I scroll past a cry for aid,
And pretend it's not the world we all made?

Would you call me naïve for saying "hello, "
For seeing strangers as friends I've yet to know?
For speaking up when I see disrespect,
For standing with those the world neglects?

Maybe I hold too tightly to hope,
But it's better than learning just to cope.
I'd rather be the one who gives a damn,
Than stand with folded arms saying, "Not my jam."

What would you think, if I chose to care?
To lift others, to listen, to simply be there?
Would you walk with me, or walk away
If I said humanity should lead the way?

Indeed, live this way like a creed. You will free people from their blindness, with your care and kindness. For is that not what the LORD would do, even when others would speak ill of you?
