What We Want To See Poem by Kimberly Burnham

What We Want To See

When we write our story we 'see'
what we want to see
it plays out on the page the way we remember
what we saw
no two people remembering the story exactly the same
the visual cortex interpreting what we 'see'
the light bouncing of the page
black letters on a white page
interpreted in shades of grey and added color
as we remember the scene from yesterday or long ago
