What The World Needs Poem by Laquory Jones

What The World Needs

Verse 1
I was only in my teens
I had these visions planted from the rivers deep
While trying to realize my dreams
Some nights I don't get much of any sleep
I know that's very unhealthy indeed
But I let the pen speak out for me
As it plants the seeds
Will Richie ever reach his peak?
Tell me 'What makes him so unique'?
Perhaps it was the taste of defeat
Making him feel quite incomplete
I get so lost within the poetry
Just trying to share my artistry
Neil Armstrong said it best
'That's one small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind'

Verse 2
Just anything to be sublime
Accolades will come in due time
Richie you've been hard to find
After watching everything get divided
I tried to see where I'd fit inside it
And that's when the sparks ignited
Full of passion while watching the world give us
Rations of creativity while draining every poet artistically
What audacity not many of us poets had the tenacity
To become a great some left and accepted their fate
Some took drugs doing anything as their means of escape
I know a few of you can relate
Some are desperate to take the bait
I hate poetry in her fragile state
It was never meant to be this way

Verse 3
What do we need to do as poets to make a constant change?
Are my words hitting any type of range?
Perhaps we have to let our words take center stage
Within this Winter Age let our emotions flow from their inner Cages and let the chips fall where they may
I've been trying to keep the doubters at bay
Butterfly shuffling through negativity Cassius Clay
And his name was Muhammad (Ali)
I'm just trying to be just as iconic
When it comes to poetry I just want people to say that
I was among the greatest and brutally honest
A poet of the rarest breed planting the rarest seeds
Just giving the world what it needs
