What's Mine Poem by David Welch

What's Mine

Somebody's looking for me,
somebody's here,
hot tantrums filled with fury,
Eyes wide with fear.

Somebody's angry with me,
oh so enraged,
wants to take what I sweat for,
take it away.

You cry out that it's ‘justice, '
and will not change your mind.
I don't care about your theories,
you cannot take what's mine.
There are no other options,
and you're running out of time.
I'm ready for another round,
you will not take what's mine.

You are so smugly arrogant,
so anger-filled,
claim you speak for downtrodden,
that I should feel ‘guilt.'

Well I don't but the theory,
and I'm not ashamed,
will not lay down and just give up
all that I have made.

You cry out that it's ‘justice, '
and will not change your mind.
But life is not a college course,
you cannot take what's mine.
You've left no other options,
so I must hold this line,
time to put up or shut up
you will not take what's mine.
You will never take what's mine.

So let's do this already…
