En enchanted expression has been made on What Poetry is? Poetry has many forms as per the thinking of a poet or poetess. Poetry may be a ladder to climb up to Heaven or it may be an angel on wings with tidings of hope of peace. It may be a sea of tranquillity or a flash of liberation from assaults of pain.It may be a a candle flame in a darkening world. The way of your presentation is most appreciated. Great work.

Oh yes, dear Valsa, poetry is all these things.Into notice that our modern civilization started with the great poems of the archaic period 750-450 b.d. here in Hellada, when everything that was written was written in verses focusing on the ablosute Good for humans.

Another classic, Valsa. You answer the question the title poses, and you do it with great skill...and subtlety. Indeed a poem can be a sanctuary, a refuge. It can also be the ladder and pathway from the self to the outside world, to the universe. A perfect 10.

I agree with the speaker...poetry is all of these things...and the poet a vessel invoked upon the seas of inspiration by the forces of the universe. Write! :) Thanks for sharing your poetic expression Valsa. Well done.

Your expression in the first stanza reminds me Wordsworth’s definition of poetry, “spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility”… when thoughts crowd the mind like frothing scum… “Sometimes it is a glide into a sea of tranquility”…..Beautiful!
