What makes you happy?
Are you happy?
Asked a friend!
I smiled, didn't reply
Till the conversation end!
What makes you happy?
Asked my heart
I cannot lie to it
As the soulful art
Does money make you happy?
I was not when I had it plenty
Yes, I did run behind making more
Not sure, how much would make it more
What makes you happy?
You achieving your degree?
May be, but not sure either
for wisdom and degrees
had nothing to correlate
The wisdom you get of life
In its turbulences to chase
The hungry stomach teaches
You more to find a way to survive
The empty pockets show you
Who your true people are
What makes you happy?
Asked my soul this time
A spiritual awakening!
Could be! I find some peace
Sitting in stillness, watch my breadth
Chasing away unwanted thoughts
The fears inside that I often fight
When it is beyond me!
I look upon God in mind so free!
When I can no longer lift
The cross with burden of life
Gently did I, put it down
For I know, HE will lift it as his own
Even in the times of prayer
There come clouds of fear
I don't stop the flowing tears
For I know HE hears me more
Than when I call him with words
Or singing songs in his praise
With wishful hope of songs
That sing loudly in HIS praise!
Deep inside my heart
I say a silent prayer
Not knowing what to ask
That's when HE speaks
Sending me the hope
Some new love profound
A blessing to be more kind
Calmness in deeper mind
Yet the storms get to find
To threaten me in its grind
Can I be ever happy?
I asked myself this time
God gave you all that
You asked and not
He gave you lessons
That taught you life
He gave you riches
that you never saved
He gave you people
Who showed you love
He gave you times
That you didn't recognise
He gave your life
Even after it was time to go
He gave you miracles
That you can today show
Wake up Girl!
Nothing can bring you peace
Accept yourself in to see
Nothing can make you happy
Unless you decide to be
Happiness is a choice
That you must earnestly make
Not letting anything on the way
To let your soul wither and break
