What Is Leave? Poem by Diana van den Berg

Tigger, my tabby,
and Daisy, my Maltese poodle,
would like to know what it means
to be on leave.
They thought it meant
that Mommy would be home more.
However, Mommy has been to work
every day of her leave so far
and that is four days now.
Tonight I am practicing saying N-N-N-O
and tomorrow I am going to say it
to anyone who asks me not to
and I am going to conquer my workaholism
if only for a short while
and I am going to show Tigger and Daisy
what leave really is,
... I hope!
