Let not the ifs unsettle your mind Just seek excellence where'er you find And all challenges, take in your stride Then happiness will be by your side Thank you Bharati

You have dealt with a profound conundrum here in this very short poem. I take it that we all exist as one but we know that not due to our default limitations. It is these limitations that make us wonder on the lines if it were like this, if it were like that etc. The best thing therefore is to accept what one is as a given and endeavour to perform at one's best.

A poet and a singer both turns time into one point realising dreams and sorrows of others and self!

You have persisted in being this person, and no person's road is easy. It is a sign of strength not to deny the possibilities once entertained by your younger self. Now you pay tribute to those dreams along the road of life: this means you are able to stand in the here and now, but spiritually you are not a prisoner of the choices you made.

Let us hope a time machine in tune with the principles of time dilation shall one day take us back into our past affording us an opportunity to modify our past mistakes based on the current intelligence. A beautiful poem which I would like to re-read.

Then perhaps I would not be here, reading a fine poem from one of my favorite writers and colleagues on this site. At first glance, it is rather simple to assume that an infinite array of outcomes might result from different choices here and there. But there is a deeper question, in the shadows beyond the readily and easily seen. Could we be different? Would we not make exactly the same choices? Is there a destiny, a fate that draws us inexorably to a pre-determined outcome? Either according to the laws of a higher realm of existence, or by the laws of physics themselves, that perhaps the universe will unfold exactly as determined from the moment of creation? What if...? A simple question elegantly asked, provoking intriguing meditations. Thank you! !

Yes, the path of the life may be different... If we carry the wisdom that we gain. Great poem

I am sure every moment of your life makes you a better person, I an sure every new step leads you to a new destination, the street of thoughts that lead to a highway of humanity, is merged to proceed in your perfection. Go on proceeding with courage and confidence, the highway may be dark and there may be no light, do not look backwards march forwards, you don't need light if you are yourself bright.

Oh, my, what a merry-go-round we can get on with those words I wonder what would have happened if I had done thus and so instead of what I did do? ? ? ? A person can devastate their life with that... or be glad they made the choices they did because what we have now is nothing we can live without. Like our children. I love how you phrased this- - - What if I go back in time Where I left some unrealized dreams- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -that is so utterly winsome, it draws me right in to your poem. I so enjoy reading a Bharati poem, they always charm me

What if....how often we catch ourselves saying it. These words have universal echoes. You have touched upon a theme that is near to every heart. What if i had taken a different route...if we had the choice to go back in time, i'm sure we all would like to try something new. Our dreams are many, but time is short. Still the imagination is limitless so it's only human to ask ourselves these questions. A deep, thoughtful write.

Thank you Nosheen for putting your valuable opinion. Our dreams are many and time short. If we are given choice to go back we may try some thing new. If I am given a choice I would like to be a singer in addition to what I am now

We neither challange the unforeseen circumstances nor capture the past. We should go on virtuous path. Beautiful poem shared. Thanks.
