What Have I To Gain? Poem by Anders J

What Have I To Gain?

In Great Grandmothers garden
I tread past
where no living thing is considered pest
The eagle couple roost in their lakeside eagle nest

the Secret Garden
where blooming buds open forth
all things are renewed,
like droplets of morning dew
on swaying grass
nothing there is crass;
and shan't ever forget I
the smiles I saw with those old door knobs of brass
in Great Grandmother's lakeside cottage
reminding me:
'you're no dumb-ass,
but mind the sand grains
falling through the
hourglass
and remember what truly matters
as the tranquility of sand-hill cranes;
pondering one thing only:
from this what have I to gain
what have I to gain?
