What Else Matters Really Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

What Else Matters Really

What can I write about today
Maybe war and the American world view
I could dwell on superiority or rather inferiority
Well maybe compatibility of thoughts would really matter

I have a sinking feeling
That rather stinks like one dysfunctional country I know
It always resurrects every time it is about to be buried
Or maybe I should silently think about the loads of outcomes that never were

I have seen roads that lead to nowhere
Payloads of illusions and delusions in the name of gender
Rights that are wrong and wrongs that in effect right
Some square and some rare: what else matters really in this life.
