What Does My Baby Know? Poem by Munashe Gumbonzvanda

What Does My Baby Know?

Village girl in an urban hut
Where others passed I gave you my heart.
With a smile we will make a home,
Where you might feed me corn.

But i wonder,
As i slumber.
What does my baby know?
What does my baby know?

No
Said many men about you.
No money, true.
But we are jus cool.

What do you know?
Tell me,
So i know.
So I know.

I smile,
In time,
With the moon and rhyme.
Glisten watch my teeth shine.

But what do we know?
Us village lovers.
Village vegrants.
Except our broken smiles.
