What do you think when you hear
The magnitude of thunder ringing clear?
When you see the sky burst asunder
By lightning's star-like wonder?
What do you think when you hear
The roar of heaving waves severe?
When you watch the ocean rise
And throw its body against the cliffs like a falling sky?
I think of the thunder splendid in wonder
As the footsteps of God—so great in power.
And the lightning flash is a small foretaste of his holy wrath
That will one day sweep away all the wicked chaff.
I think of the waves fearfully resounding
As the sound of Heaven's gates wide revealing.
And the crash upon the cliffs awfully grand,
Is like His omnipotent love that will never, no never let go of my hand.
A beautiful poem giving us thoughts to ponder about. So thought provoking. The title and the opening lines carry powerful words that linger in the mind and heart of a reader. The sterling images, rhyme and rhythm add beauty to this well presented write.
An absorbing work! You meditate on the nature of Thunder with a unique perspective, Thunder to my ears is the power of heaven showing its supremacy over that of man, who thinks he is king. This is a thoughtful work, full stars!
Wonderful representation as always..... thanks for sharing.....
But so far, it demonstrates the greatness of the creator for those who believe in God.
Thunder evolves from the lightning bolt strikes, causing the air to expand explosively. However, what you think about when it occurs may depend on your background.
