What Colossal Irony Poem by John Yaws

What Colossal Irony

I've found there is no future-
In living in the past.
Life's pleasures are so fleeting,
No way to make them last.

If the sun comes up tomorrow-
It may well be my last dawn.
I will seize the moments as they come-
And then I'll move along.

Life is filled with disappointment-
As everybody knows-
So do your best with what you've got
That is just the way it goes.

Should I go on living-
Time has made a fool of me.
I thought to die at twenty-five.
What colossal irony.
