What am I? I am of noble birth;
From other worlds I came to early Earth.
An eternal shape-shifter,
In the lower places I gather.
When I am reborn I soar high,
Flying high in the azure sky.
I come down on the plains, mountains and seas,
Nurturing all creation with glee.
A mighty solvent am I, dissolving
Stubborn stuffs for the soils cultivating.
In the colder places
Changed are my state and faces.
I become crystallized.
Thus solidified and purified,
I am good at preserving organic things,
And my praises the household folks sing.
When to the frigid lands return the Summer days,
I then simply melt away,
Running down the slopes
To form creeks and rills
Among the countless hills.
I am ageless and will never die.
By mankind's greed I'll abide
If my Cycle they live harmoniously by.
