Well Met Poem by Richard Randolph

Well Met

Rating: 5.0

If I had the money,
if I had the time,
I'd buy a big old car
and drive to the oceanside.
Might be in the morning,
maybe late at night,
the stars might be shining,
or the sun might be bright.
And when the evening came,
I'd walk along the shore,
the cold, wet sand beneath my feet
like a hundred times before.
I'd see the sun slowly melting
into the far edge of the sea.
A seagull passing overhead
would hardly glance at me.
And then I'd feel my heart surrender
to the ocean's ancient, gentle roar,
a trusted old friend, well met at last,
and I'd find myself once more.
