Welcome To Nigeria Poem by Mcanthony Nwatu

Welcome To Nigeria

Rating: 5.0

Welcome to Nigeria
Warring widows bonded by ambitious Briton
Named by a woman after the marine.

Welcome to Nigeria
The oil rich country,
Home to hungry men
Hence the stomach infrastructure.

Welcome to Nigeria
The pot with nice aroma
That is if you are just perceiving.

Welcome to Nigeria
Don't open the pot
The sight alone will give you a purge.

Welcome to Nigeria
The pot contains outrageous combinations:
Fried rice with ora soup as sauce,
Okra and bread, foo foo and shia(tea) .
A beautiful sight if you know not what they are.
Just don't have a taste.

Welcome to Nigeria
The combinations are poisonous
But, they say it's unity in diversity
united we stand lest we fall.

Welcome to Nigeria
A breath taking home
Where everyone is a leader with a banner.

Welcome to my country
My countrymen are survivors
As our congressmen are dividers.
Congratulations, she is fifty-eight
Yet not appreciated
She is eighteen past fool's line
Seeming a fool at forty is her king.

Who feeds the dinosaurs.

Welcome to Nigeria
Married only to her father's age mates
Raped quarterly by her sons.
But she remains strong in hope
For unity, peace, and progress
Waiting for the compatriots to arise.
Welcome to Nigeria.
Happy birthday, mother
