We Shouldn't Have To Hide(Trichotillomania) Poem by Trichotillomaniac The Poet

We Shouldn't Have To Hide(Trichotillomania)

we shouldn't have to hide
we shouldn't be held hostage prisoners
of our own mind
for something we cannot control
this is not a crime
we shouldnt have to force ourselves to fit into this race of criticizing beauty that's unstoppable
no matter how we appear
as long as we're good people we're beautiful
innocent souls shouldnt feel guilty
when they think of what society may believe about them
as long as we're not hurting each other
we should be accepted
we shouldnt be too ashamed to spread awareness
we should be able to exist
with bald spots,
while pulling
with dented, transparent finger nails
without being shamed for it
something we can't control shouldnt be treated as an abomination
comforting ourselves shouldnt be viewed as revolting
