A hauntingly accurate assessment, Raymond. To a degree, an entire generation or two in the west have grown up with such images and have become inured to them. Some local disaster or even 9/11 temporarily wake some up to the reality of mans constant atrocities toward each other, but it quickly goes back to an attitude of; it doesn't effect me. If our broadcasts are picked up by an alien civilization, they most likely would judge us all as liable for not doing something other than gawking.
I hope your poem strikes a similar nerve in those who read it.
