We Have Stepped Across A Threshold Poem by Grant House

We have stepped across a threshold
moving with Time's Arrow into a new era.
And let me just say to all of you watching and listening right now
you have been a great audience.
Now with the whole future ahead of us
let's Begin Again fresh unfettered clear
like baby kittens stumbling around
or maybe more like baby giraffes
a little unsteady at first
heading out to meet other baby animals wandering aimlessly in the wilderness
maybe this time things will turn out better
we will grow big and strong
able to reach the tallest branches of our aspirations and eat them
I mean the leaves up there near the top of the tree
except of course if you really are a newborn Kitty
then you're just waiting for your eyes to open
hoping to get a little bit of Mama's milk
and then you will grow big and strong and climb the tree of your kitty aspirations
where you might wait until the nice fireman comes
and gets you down later in the evening after a lot of meowing.
So this is just my way of saying how grateful I am
to be able to Cher (I mean share) these inspirations with someone
who likes to nuzzle up close like the newborn Kitty
and tangle legs like the baby giraffe
and who stretches way up high to reach her highest aspirations
and be nourished with energy from the Stars
embedded in the green leaves of everyday life
with me here on this rare Earth
