We Drag With Us Not A Treasure But A Chain. Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

We Drag With Us Not A Treasure But A Chain.

Rating: 5.0

We only enjoy true liberty
in respect of such things
as we neither possess nor desire.

The relation between the self
and the external world
is spoiled by lust
and not by love
and it fatigues the soul.

Divide the world
into 'mine' and 'not mine'
and unreal standards
are set up, claims and
cravings begin to fret the mind.

We are the slaves of our own poverty.
We drag with us not a treasure but a chain.

Outstanding poem, profound in nature and I quote few lines: 10++++ We are the slaves of our own poverty. We drag with us not a treasure but a chain.
