We Are Not The Same Poem by Ishmael Onserio

We Are Not The Same

Rating: 4.0

Two kinds of species,
Living under the same tree shed,
That mind did not see the sun's light,
Passing through the leaves thorn apart
He tried to point to their origin,
All not making sense to a young mind,
A weakened spirit negotiating,
With the reality plainly told,
You could imagine of the dumb stances,
Taken by the self-claimed king,
We are not the same anyway.

Many hearts have been lost,
Because of your mean hand,
Your talk kills inwardly,
Whoever the heightened words befall,
You kill with no reason,
Even when the light of forgiveness has been lit,
You like nooks of your comfort dwelling,
You and yours is all that matters,
You treasure living in jeopardy,
To bring you conscience into terms,
I pity the ones you rule,
For I know we're not the same.

Have you ever seen Jealousy?
Mounting with vigor from this side,
I know you have come across,
This hand that grabs all,
For self and self alone,
Those ones can starve to death,
Provided not asked to 'donate, '
A lump of bread with mold,
You wonder of the evil eye mounting,
In the corners of this kind if living,
This is because we are not the same.

That evil eye dwells in you,
Mostly in all your likeness so expansive,
You wish to ride in starry skies,
When your wings can barely flap,
You think of fortunes,
Hidden like a treasure, miles down the bumpy mud,
You like and admire him that is great,
You make it a big deal grabbing these dreams
Sinking the true great right hand for you,
In the realms where you are sheltered fully,
This is because we are not the same.

Have you seen the flight of ideas,
The feathery mind on a windy raging tide?
It is a hovering soul,
Never satisfied with the first say,
Yesterday was that, today this,
I was not in sound mind,
Is all you can hear,
Changes of times not expected,
Decisions so grave taken so hastily,
A return in that late tomorrow,
With a calm heart for a guide,
After squandering the grace that was,
You know what? I listen,
This is because we are not the same.

A few have gone past expectations,
This is great and I admire,
Just watch closely,
If it is not for a chest thump's sake,
A platform to wax even more,
Then it's a counseled spirit,
The one tried in fire,
I promise you, this is true,
Count the numbers abreast and tell me,
You will see what I see, it's evident,
I know a lifted spirit is in all of us,
Because we are mottled humans,
But trust me, we are not the same.
