Water Viewed As An Infinitesimal Surface An Oceanic Mirror Poem by Terence George Craddock

Water Viewed As An Infinitesimal Surface An Oceanic Mirror

observe ocean endless
vantage point is a rocky cliff
or a grainy beach sandy shore
view ocean observed on rocky cliff
waves may be wind blown storm tossed
waves may be a gentle swell in sunlight
waves may be extinct a clear glass ocean
distant surface seamless rice paper thin

yet stretching to sight far curved horizon
view ocean observed on grainy beach sandy shore
water close intimate may lap near shoed or bare feet
water close may have brine smell or fresh salt breath
water close may sudden wave reach toes inundate feet
water close may near swarm small fishes in shallows

water viewed is an infinitesimal surface
a line an oceanic mirror imaging sky clouds
clouds drifting clouds racing with wind in sky
water viewed is an infinitesimal surface
layers run deep out past close inshore shoreline
layers run deep out to deepest depths distant trench depths
myriad wonders sea life scale smooth jelly bodies
forms known unknown swim reaches unknown to humanity
