FIVE: perception, reflection, and the transformative power of observation. It encourages us to look beyond the surface and consider alternate viewpoints, much like gazing into the ripples of a pond and discovering hidden wonders

FOUR: The water's surface acts as a lens, revealing a topsy-turvy world where reality is both familiar and altered. Swenson's playful language invites readers to see the ordinary in extraordinary ways, challenging our perceptions and encouraging us to appreciate the beauty of the unexpected.

THREE: The arched stone bridge appears as an eye, with its underlid reflected in the water. This poem captures a sense of distortion, where everyday objects take on new forms and orientations.

TWO: In the pond, all things are doubled and transformed: Long buildings hang and wriggle gently. Chimneys become bent legs bouncing on clouds below. A flag wags like a fishhook in the sky.

Stunning! Absolutely stunning! ! How hard that must have been to describe things upside down so well that I could see the images in the pond. Captivating, enjoyable, in all ways poetic. She gets a huge 10 from me and a spot on my fav list.

Beautiful poem! So rich and vibrant with imagery. Last lines have specially struck me. Is poetess trying to tell the power of love brought out through an image of kissing duck. Love certainly has power to create ripples in life.
