War Poem by Karen Redwards

War

War is always painful
Its pain can't be repaired.
War is when the sord in hand,
Out powers the pen in dare.

Sometimes war brings cruelty,
It always brings despair.
But most of all it's senseless,
And painfully unfair

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem at the tender age of 14. My Uncle had returned from Vietnam battlegrounds years earlier. It was the psychological trauma he would now be forced to live with, that prompted me to write these lines.

An insightful depiction of horrors and injustices of war, elegantly brought forth in good diction with conviction. Thanks for sharing Karen. Please read my poem CHILDREN OF CRUEL FATE.

Wow, that was a long time ago! But unfortunately, war continues. You may like my poem The old lie lives on.
