I stood and looked in the cool of the twilight -
the sun was peacefully sinking low,
her last rays glowing and lovingly encompassing
the world in a soft and rich, warm glow.

Wonderful poetic journey that takes the reader along with. You create there an absorbing imagery Diana. And that too at a tender age! Great piece. Liked 10+
While reading this i sat in the mountain of Underberg, KZN. I could picture those black horses sneaking beneath a sunset. I love the rhym of your poem Daina. Thank you for sharing your love.
Ngikubonga Lihle! I adore Underberg and the surrounding Drakensberg! I haven’t been there since childhood. Please give my love to it! Thank you for your kind words and for bringing back memories to me. Sorry my reply is so late. I have only just seen it now.
The further I read the greater my enjoyment became! Thank you Diana.
Beautiful poem. Enjoyed it very much! This is my first time that I read Diana Van's poem. Felt like closing my eyes and venturing into her world.
Thank you, Madathil, for understanding and enjoying and the lovely comment.
Er... no, Kelly, nightfall sorta happens every night, lol, but thanks for reading and commenting.
Very good poem, well chosen as Poem of the Day. Much better, in my opinion than the other two poems of the day!
Thank you for your comments Chinedu. However, the poem has absolutely nothing to do with a storm or anything ferocious at all. Horses are not ferocious. They are beautiful, graceful, powerful animals. It is simply about night falling fast, and perceived as the black horses of night approaching fast and beautifully, from the east and overtaking me and my being in darkness once they had passed because night had fallen. Thank you Valerie. I am glad you saw it as such and that you enjoyed it. Thank you Adeline, for your stunning compliment. (I have adored horses all my life and was owned by one for 20½ years - I am a one-horse woman.) Thank you Sandra. However, I wasn't lonely at all. I was exhilarated by being alone and my mention of it was to emphasize that the horses were no longer there. Thank you for your kind words. Thank you, Dave for your lovely compliments.
Powerful piece of poetry, well articulated, nicely encapsulated and penned in poetic diction with conviction. Ferocity of sudden storms well depicted in the poem. The use of appropriate similes to drive home essence of the poem is very remarkable. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.

An exquisite poem for any age, extraordinary for a sixteen-year-old. Enjoyed it very much. Adeline
