I think we've all been there, haven't we? An ousted relationship has caused us to be less trusting in the next case. Part of it is completely natural... It is your heart's way of keeping you from being broken again. But, when it happens over and over again... And, we find ourselves becoming less and less trusting with each new 'special person' we let in... We find ourselves a mere fragment of the man or woman we once were. We must overcome that fear... Overcome that mistrust and, as you say here, walk with them and tell them your pain and fears. We must remain like trusting children who are innocent and have never been hurt, although we have. C.S. Lewis said it best when he wrote the following: 'To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless-it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.' Brilliant man and a brilliant insight to that which you write here. Very well written and authentic. Thank you, Mikayla.
