Wake Up And Smell The Screaming Rats Poem by Andy Brookes

Wake Up And Smell The Screaming Rats

sycophantic voices haunt incongruous muted dreams
creeping star crossed under thresholds frame
frenetically formed from lack lustre indistinct miasmic turgidity, atramentous.

Steps descending helical deliveringmetamorphosis
cerebral swift quick vagary changes artistry

via opulent wings, relishing promises
emancipation mediocrity regresses inexorably
cocooned blind delirium amplifies a puissant enemy
vermilion mentation likeperpetual asphodels

Scene Change

psychedelic eyesof stained-glass soignémirthful butterflies
untainted hues leaded fragile vitreous splinters
An Art NouveauGarden of Eden, immaculate, yet sterile
crystal veritisimitude virtues faithful carousal
immolating preposterous charades
awake to a tatterdemalion morning

still a woebegone harried jester struggling with lexicons unruly words
shifting places on ivory pages blurry hieroglyph Poesque
a turn of a screw moment splitting wood or infinitives

in the Muses black lacquer marbled eyes
dreams are impossible to capture she seem to say.
