The last two lines of each stanza sound the REALITY knell. But the previous lines create the possibility of the heart's desire, not probability - you've grown beyond that - possibility means being open to a miracle, or a break- through, or a deus ex machina (How about an appearance by Aphrodite at the very last minute to reset the clock of the world to the time frame of lovers?) And Aphrodite will say to you, Most people now think I will never return? But here I am, Mihaela. If a goddess returns unexpectedly, cannot a human being do so as well?
