Waiting For An Original Freshness Poem by Kiran Pillai

Waiting For An Original Freshness

I used to love learning a lot. Learn forever.
However, today my open world is closing in
I am not too open to new things anymore.
What is new here? We don't have anything fresh.

Everything is so recycled in this world today.
What one leaves is what another takes and consumes
This is seen in technology, culture and habits.
I am done with lack of freshness today. Where is fresh?

I need something fresh today. How does that come in?
Where is the freshness that is appearing in world today?
Bring in something novel. Bring in a new wave.
Is the newness that is important? Or the everlasting old?

I used to be a worshipper of ancient knowledge.
But, it seems too much of a thing to bear today.
I know speaking against Vedanta is a crime for me.
But, I know Sankhya Yoga a bit too well for freshness.

Maybe I am too intellectual with the whole thing.
I never wanted to be an intellectual beast of burden.
I know that my life was always fresh for many years.
Suddenly, a dimness appears in the horizon. Why?

I need an answer to will the dimness away. How can it be?
Even jazz is not doing it for me. The tunes can't do it.
Writing used to be so much fun - exploring my insides.
I cannot be writing my way into bliss today also.

What will bring in the fun and the glory back again?
Should I get out into the world and do something original?
Some spirit within me waits for a chance to emerge.
Let the fresh energy come in a new wave of originality
