Visual Cortex Poem by Kimberly Burnham

Visual Cortex

"See" in your mind's eye
read a description of a place
your visual cortex is working in a similar way
look at something in real life
visualize something
it is similar to the brain
light bounces off the page of text you have just written
you see what is written
light enters the eyes
lands on the retina where light energy is converted to chemistry
travelling along the optic nerve to the visual cortext
interpreting the light energy translated into chemistry into images
interpreted as a threat or beauty or love and warmth
