From pregnancy to parturition
keeps in her womb,
gives food from her blood,
receives wastes of foetus
for nine months.
Protects the developing
in a fluid filled chamber,
tolerates quickening
from rolls, wriggles and kicks.
Brings the baby
from darkness to
light and beauty
of the Cosmos,
looks after and brings up
with utmost care,
nourishes from her bosoms.
Devotes every moment,
in the midst of other works,
for welfare of baby
till becomes an adult.
The diets she cooks and serves
are not only food materials,
but blends of love
and affection from heart.
Remembers the preferred
items of all siblings,
if health goes wrong
sits near the bed,
holds in her lap,
remains awake and sleepless,
with agony and anxiety
till recovery occurs.
First teacher in every house hold,
lets us learn to sit, stand and walk,
teaches alphabets, prayers,
rhymes, etiquettes,
introduces to the world
with noble ideas and thoughts.
Refrains us from doing wrongs,
forgives and forgets our
caustic cruel words,
an unending source of
encouragement and joy
till her last breathe.
From mother-to-be
to her ultimate exit,
where can we get a
living and loving personality
in the World?
To me it is apparent that
God found it difficult
to be present with all
He created and therefore
envisioned a replica in
Mothers who are
visible Gods,
withstand all our odds
like the mother Earth,
at the cost of her worth,
her lofty sacrifices
can never be repaid.
