Violence Poem by Valsa George

Violence

Rating: 4.7

Violence erupts
As pressure builds inside
No warning, no alarm siren
Sudden spurt of lava
Effacing life, love and dreams
War drums, grenades, gun shots
Fire spitting dragons of tanks
Sizzling missiles and bombs
Screams, wails and bloodshed
Thousands fall dead
Thousands, maimed and crippled
Pale faced grimace of death!

Volcanic violence blasts the Earth.
Blights life.
Flee away from its course!
Seek shelter in the bastions of peace,
Before it sweeps you headlong,
Charring you to death,
As unsuspecting flies in a flame!

Milton the blind bard of England sang
"Peace hath her victories
No less renowned than war"
Let no man take up arms against another
For when peace dwells within
There shall be peace without!

Beautiful lines Valsa... Milton the blind bard of England sang Peace hath her victories No less renowned than war Let no man take up arms against another For when peace dwells within There shall be peace without! Very true said, when volcanoes erupt within, lava will burst out. No one realizes for peace lies within. Once again a thoughtful write. Loved it.

Right wars were historic and phases of interim peace just went by....... Alexander the Great set right many a wrong by his wars whereas certain manipulations on peace and its overreaches have led to anarchy as well. Milton`s comprehension was blinded by lack of reading into history and absolute dependence of doctrines on peace. However, the precarious conditions that prevail over the countries from where the U.S has eliminated or tried to eliminate dictators are today the playgrounds or strongholds of terrorists or rebel forces. Iraq and Lybia bear testimony to it. Rogue countries have never been refined in terms of security. Wars may be a must in future too. But violence has to be shun ever. The rebels in Iraq are supported by the mighty Saudi regime and to what extent the rest of the world can rightly assess the matter is debatable... A poem that expresses the feelings of all of us.

Violence of nature has advantages too but human violence, in my humble opinion, is the most undesired sin. I welcome this lovely poem against violence.

Seek shelter in the bastions of peace, Before it sweeps you headlong Weapons are supposed to be there not to be used. Peace is all pervading. Let us learn and live.

Violence erupts without warning due to pressure builds inside, and then war occurs. War can't provide peace, but we need peace. So no man take up arms against another. A beautiful poem so nicely executed.

For a short while, I was utterly drowned in the sea of despair feeling the horrors of war while going through this high pitched poem! The conclusive stanza with Milton’s Song provides readers acts as an extinguisher! I always appreciate the way you associate and involve your poetic soul to specific issues! A great poem!

Very true that violence begets destruction only whether it is a Volcano, tornado or storm. It is an after effect of building pressure inside the system. Thus in our society also all unnecessary pressures are created by supression and oppression to the society resulting to war, looting and extortion begetting a misery to the society. Hence the poet said very rightly Let no man take up arms against another For when peace dwells within ... very well presentation, Valsa, thanks for sharing.
