Vedic Prayer 8 - A Peace Chant From Rig Veda Samhita - Purusha Suktam Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Vedic Prayer 8 - A Peace Chant From Rig Veda Samhita - Purusha Suktam

Rating: 5.0

Aum!
Let us pray and chant in praise of sacrifices,
Let us sing in praise of the Lord of sacrifices,
Let us be blessed by the Supreme Divine Light!

Let there be Peace for the whole world,
For the whole of mankind,
For the countless herbs, plants and trees on this earth!

Let there be Peace, Peace, Peace!
Not for the two legged human beings alone,
But for the four legged animals too, inhabiting this planet.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I love this prayer for the simple reason that it is meant for everybody and everything in this world.
The beauty of this Vedic prayer is that it is meant for all. So, when we pray, we should pray for the whole world. How true! Then, we are naturally included in the 'All'.

During this Quarantine period, there is nothing better than a prayer for the whole world. These are Peace chants from the Vedas. The best part about these' Peace chants' are that they are universal. It is not for a particular religion, cast, creed, sect, colour, language or country. It is for all human beings alike.
I have taken the liberty to translate the original Sanskrit verses into English. I, most humbly declare, that a translation can never do full justice to the original Sanskrit verse. Sanskrit has its own divine beauty and grace.

Full of divinity. The offerings made in the sacred Yajnas will bring peace everywhere in the world. These chants are meant to bring righteousness to the devotees. May these prayers transcend the worldly or material considerations and bring peace and 'Sat-chit-anand' to the entire mankind. Thanks, Geeta ji.

Let there be Peace, Peace, Peace! / Not for the two legged human beings alone, / But for the four legged animals too, inhabiting this planet.- - - - wouldn't it be a lovely world if animals were left to live their lives in peace? Then again it would be lovely if humans could live in peace with each other. Thank you so much for sharing these chants with PH! ! 10+++

The Divine picture has panted mind to chant God's name with the mantra of Aum, the sound of sun as recorded in space. Aum is the sound produced by sun and sun chants God's name at each moment. Let us chant and offer prayer before our God. He will of course listen to us. He will save us from danger. Let there be Peace for the whole world. His divine light will sprinkle peace! An outstanding poem is well penned...10
