Vedas 33 - Kathopanishad - A Prayer For Peace

Rating: 5.0

May the divine Almighty protect us together!
May we share the food of spiritual knowledge together!
May we jointly work together with great energy and enthusiasm!
May our study be full of light and illumination!
Let us not despise anyone!

Let there be Peace - Peace -Peace.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was published in June 2016 in Poem Hunter under the Vedantic Wisdom Series. I am now integrating this into the Vedic Series in a systematic manner.
Katha Upanishad belongs to the school of Katha in Krishna Yajurveda. Herein are two chapters, each containing three Cantos or Vallis.
It is in Kathopanishad that the story of Nachiketa unfolds, extolling the profound wisdom of the knowledge of the Supreme Soul.
We begin this Upanishad with a Shanti Mantra or Prayer for Peace.

Yes Rajnish ji, it is the inner light and love for one and all with good will and compassion- that is the way to attain peace. This is one of the best prayers. Most often, i recite and chant this prayer along with my students. Thank you so much Rajnish ji.

Amen, Geeta. This makes me think of another prayer I've been thinking of in the last week, the one by St. Francis which begins, Make me an instrument of Your peace. Again, amen! Shanti, shalom, salaam, pax... -Glen

Amen Glen. Thank you for such an insightful comment. St Francis was an apostle of peace. By the way, all my books have been printed in St. Francis Press. I have a long association with the Brothers of St. Francis. They spread peace all around them. Thank you Glen.

Although I am unable to mention anything in relation to the faith of yours, I read very well the content of the poem and I feel the intent of the same, which is noble. This is what every decent being within the heart of the heart aspires to enjoy, the peace. Let we too join you and the rest of the world in the clamour for PEACE. Thanks very much for sharing Vedas 33.

Thank you Jayatissa for your excellent review of the poem. All scriptures of the world speak of peace as the ultimate aim of life. We, human beings have to understand this vital truth and lead a life of love and compassion along with our fellowmen in order to attain peace.
