Vedas 26 - Ishavasyopanishad - Hymn 15 - The Golden Veil Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Vedas 26 - Ishavasyopanishad - Hymn 15 - The Golden Veil

Rating: 5.0

Golden vessel covered with
Glittering lid,
Gaudy and garish! The eyes -
Glued only to the outer covering!

Dissuaded,
Diverted,
Deceived,
Deluded!

The Truth!
Unbidden,
Unsolicited,
Hidden!

O Pushan!
Remove the dazzling veil from your face!
O Sun! You are the effulgent being!
Uncover Thy face so that i the worshipper of Truth,
May behold Thee as the Supreme Reality!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is the interpretation given to verse 15 of Ishavasyopanishad. Earlier I had published this poem in the Vedantic wisdom series, but I have now added it in this series of Vedas, with an additional verse at the end, in systematic order of the Upanishads.

An interpretation of the hymn beautifully put forth. The concluding lines addressed to Sun, seek to know the reality behind His effulgent being. This is what the true seeker of truth wants to know. Thanks for the series, Geeta ji.

Glittering lid is covered with golden vessel. The hidden truth is revealed with power of judgement and scriptural values. Removing dazzling veil from face sun smiles with power. A deeply philosophical poem is nicely penned with respect to Vedic context. An excellent poem this is...10
