The ‘Guru Sishya Parampara' reminded me of an old teacher who taught me very early in my childhood. It has been years, but I still remember him, his words of wisdom, and his CANE very well. I think very few cultures have ever achieved the kind of pupil-teacher relationships as we did. A wonderful poem Dr. Menon. I am going on a reverse with this series, but surely learning a lot.
Thank you dear Well wisher for your wonderful review and comment. You have arrived like an angel into this site. :)
Hi, Geeta! I’m back from vacation and able to spend some time in PH. How could I resist this title? My mind goes to Jesus’s picks for apostles, how human and imperfect! Then to Kabir, a Muslim who abased himslef at the feet of Ramananda because he recognized the spirit in him. This reinforces my conviction that perhaps the most important qualification is hunger. As Jesus said, we’re blessed when we hunger and thirst for righteousness. -Glen
Glen, i am really glad that you are back after your vacation. Happy that you liked the title of this poem. Very well commented and interpreted. I liked the example given of words of Jesus - to thirst for righteousness and of Kabir whose poems are wonderful words of wisdom.

You have described very well the ancient, traditional way of imparting knowledge and highlighted the importance of shravaNa. Thanks. (10)
Thanks a million Sir for your generous appraisal of this poem. 'Shravana' is an essential aspect of the Guru Sishya Parampara, without which there is no learning or progress.
you have very nicely put across a basic fact teach only those who want to learn and don't force your ways on all and everyone and the taught will also bow in return well done doctor
Thank you Poet. True, we cannot force learning on anyone. The quest for truth should emerge from deep within.
The characteristics needed in a deserving student for dissemination of scriptural knowledge sages and saints in ancient times has been nicely delineated in this part of the series. Geeta ji, this is just awesome. Thanks.
Thank you so much Rajnish ji. You review of the poems are always so positive and supportive. It truly inspires with an incentive to continue writing
Your studies and dissemination open up minds of many. Although I maintain a wholly logical mindset; I can incorporate new knowledge open-mindedly. Thank you, Geeta..
Thank you Kelly for your open-mindedness. I truly appreciate.
Hi Geeta Another secret window to the hidden treasures of Indian traditions you have now pushed open for us... Of course, many a literary work of the yore was passed on from general to generations, by word of mouth. May be that is why, even today, Vedadhyayanam is first done by byhearting the shlokas by reciting them repeatedly, without understanding them.
Thank you Unni. As you know, in our tradition, many things were just spoken. it spread through the word of mouth alone. Very few understand the Sanskrit Slokas. The rest just repeat it. But they say that the sound vibration has an effect on the person who chants the slokas as well.
Beautiful write on Guhya Vidya imparted to very few pupils by their Guru. Thanks you Doctor for sharing your knowledge with us. Loved reading it.
Thank you Geetha for your lovely comment. Happy to see you on my page after a long while. God bless.
This poem teaches us many thing about the parampara of providing and gaining knowledge..
Thank you Debosmita for reading the Vedic poem. Yes it is the esoteric knowledge imparted by Guru to Sishya.
